Record-breaking high temperatures this year, the three dog days are the second hottest in history.
Today marks the end of the three hottest periods in summer, known as "San Fu days", as today is the Chufu, or the first day after the last hottest period. This year's San Fu days were especially hot, ranking as the second hottest on record. Many places in Xinjiang experienced continuous high temperatures, breaking records for the number of hot days in Sichuan, Hubei, Henan, and other regions. This year's San Fu days lasted from July 20 to August 18, a total of 30 days. Despite being a shorter version of the usual San Fu period, the heat was particularly intense. According to statistics from the China Meteorological Administration, the average national temperature during the San Fu days this year was 23.21C, second only to the record high of 23.24C in 2024.
