On December 13, local time, United Airlines flight UA803 from Washington Dulles International Airport to Tokyo Haneda Airport in Japan experienced suspected engine problems during takeoff, causing a fire in the bushes along the runway. The Boeing 777-200 aircraft then flew over Fredericksburg, Virginia to jettison fuel before returning. There were reportedly no injuries to passengers on board. The fire in the bushes along the runway is believed to have been caused by debris or flames from engine failure during takeoff. The relevant runway has been closed. The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
