On December 13th local time, Iraqi Prime Minister Sadiq met with visiting UN Secretary-General Guterres in Baghdad. Sadiq stated at a joint press conference that the end of the UN Assistance Mission in Iraq does not mean the end of Iraq's partnership with the United Nations. Currently, the relevant issues between the two sides have shifted from primarily crisis response to relying on Iraq's own strength to advance its long-term development plans. In the future, Iraq will continue to deepen cooperation with the United Nations on the basis of partnership. Guterres stated that despite the end of the UN Assistance Mission, many UN specialized agencies will still remain in Iraq, providing important support for Iraq and the Iraqi people.
