China retaliates! 34% tariff imposed on all imports originating from the United States.

On April 4th, the State Council Customs Tariff Commission announced that starting from 12:01 on April 10, 2025, a 34% tariff will be imposed on all imported goods originating from the United States based on the current applicable tariff rates. On the same day, the Ministry of Commerce announced that 16 U.S. entities including High Point Aerotechnologies will be added to the export control list, prohibiting the export of dual-use items to these entities and requiring the immediate cessation of any ongoing related export activities.

On April 2, 2025, the U.S. government announced the imposition of "equivalent tariffs" on Chinese goods exported to the U.S. Such actions by the U.S. are against international trade rules, severely harming China's legitimate rights and interests, and are typical of unilateral acts of bullying.
In accordance with the laws and regulations of the People's Republic of China such as the Customs Law, the Customs Law of the People's Republic of China, and the Foreign Trade Law of the People's Republic of China, as well as basic principles of international law, approved by the State Council, tariffs will be imposed on imported goods originating from the United States starting from 12:01 on April 10, 2025. The relevant details are as follows:
1. A 34% tariff will be imposed on all imported goods originating from the United States based on the current applicable tariff rates.
2. Existing bonded and tax reduction policies remain unchanged, and the tariffs imposed this time are not subject to reduction.
3. Goods that have been shipped from the port of origin before 12:01 on April 10, 2025, and are imported between 12:01 on April 10, 2025, and 24:00 on May 13, 2025, will not be subject to the tariffs specified in this announcement.

Ministry of Commerce Announcement No. 21 of 2025 Announcing the Inclusion of 16 U.S. Entities in the Export Control List
In accordance with the laws and regulations of the People's Republic of China such as the Export Control Law and the Regulations on Export Control of Dual-Use Items of the People's Republic of China, for the maintenance of national security and interests, the fulfillment of international obligations such as non-proliferation, it is decided to include 16 U.S. entities including High Point Aerotechnologies in the export control list (see attached), and take the following measures:
1. Prohibit the export of dual-use items to the above-mentioned 16 U.S. entities; ongoing related export activities should be immediately halted.
2. In special circumstances where export is necessary, exporters should apply to the Ministry of Commerce.
This announcement shall be formally implemented from the date of publication.
