On Monday, there was a dramatic scene at the close of the US stock market: amidst a collective decline in the six major technology giants, Apple Inc. (AAPL.US) stood out with a contrary move, with its stock price rising nearly 2% to become the focus of the market. As of the time of writing, Apple Inc.'s stock price had fallen by 0.33% after hours. In contrast, NVIDIA Corporation (NVDA.US), Tesla, Inc. (TSLA.US) saw declines of over 1%, while Microsoft Corporation (MSFT.US) and Amazon.com, Inc. (AMZN.US) also saw small decreases. Meta (META.US) and Alphabet Inc. Class C (GOOGL.US) remained steady.
The "solo act" hides a mystery behind it. Despite market rumors of continued pressure on iPhone shipments, Goldman Sachs Group, Inc. revealed key signals in its latest data: in February, there was a dramatic turnaround in the Chinese smartphone market - shipments of foreign brands surged by 9% year-on-year, showing a stark contrast to the 21% drop in January.
The analyst team at Goldman Sachs Group, Inc., led by Michael Ng, specifically pointed out in their report that February saw the largest monthly increase (12%) since June 2024. While inventory adjustments before the launch of new products may have a short-term impact on financial reports, the overall trend still leads the team to maintain an optimistic view, with a "buy" rating and a target price of $294 for Apple Inc.
It is worth noting that the market share of foreign brands showed a slight decline compared to the previous month, slipping from 16% to 13%, indicating that competition among local brands remains fierce. However, Apple Inc. has taken the lead with its "tech ace": the new Apple Intelligence feature has been adapted for multiple languages, the iOS 18.4 system now supports French, German, Japanese, and 8 other languages, and for the first time grants access to EU users.
Vision Pro devices have also been upgraded, allowing users to generate text through ChatGPT, create emojis with Genmoji, and even use AI tools for secondary image editing.
