According to reports, members of the House of Representatives from different political parties in the United States have reached a proposal that would prohibit members of Congress from buying and selling personal stocks. Supporters claim that this marks the first time in over a decade that concrete restrictions have been imposed on this type of behavior. A text copy indicates that this bipartisan bill will be announced next week. The bill stipulates that members of Congress and their families have 180 days from the date the bill takes effect to sell their personal stocks, including those held in blind trusts. The proposal also states that newly elected members will have 90 days after being sworn in to sell their stocks.
