Supply chain issues lead to seat shortages, American Airlines' new Airbus plane grounded in Europe.
The American Airlines Group has finally received its first Airbus A321XLR long-range aircraft, but due to supply chain issues resulting in seat shortages, the aircraft will temporarily stay in Europe. American Airlines said in a statement that the company signed documents to receive the aircraft in Hamburg, Germany on Friday. American Airlines ordered 50 of these long-range aircraft in 2019, with plans to first deploy the first aircraft on cross-country routes in the United States later this year, followed by international routes. The airline stated that the aircraft "will remain in Europe until the current seat supply chain issues are resolved," but declined to disclose the name of the seat manufacturer.
