CEO of JPMorgan Chase, Jamie Dimon: The craze in the private credit market may have already peaked.
On July 15th local time, Jamie Dimon, CEO of JPMorgan Chase, stated during the second quarter earnings conference call, "The private credit market may have started to peak. Maybe, I'm not sure." When asked if he was interested in acquiring a private credit company, Dimon replied, "This is not my top priority right now, because we can also do private credit business ourselves. Of course, if we come across the right people and the right price, we can also consider it." When asked about what specifically "the private credit market peaking" meant, Dimon indicated that currently credit spreads are low and the industry is growing rapidly, "You have to pay a high premium to participate. I am not saying it will not continue to grow, but I will be a little cautious, it also depends on who the target is."
