Sichuan province issues report regarding pharmaceutical companies suspected of bribing doctors.

Sichuan Provincial Health Commission: Recently, our commission received a report regarding "a pharmaceutical company suspected of providing commercial bribes to doctors." Our commission attached great importance to this matter, immediately set up an investigation team, and conducted investigations and verifications in collaboration with relevant departments. The progress of the investigation and disposal is now reported as follows. 1. Investigation situation: The report involves 125 personnel from medical institutions, including 6 cases of repeated information and 1 case of false information, resulting in verification of 118 individuals distributed among 36 medical institutions. Upon individual verification, it was found that 59 individuals illegally received fees totaling 116,600 yuan for participating in case collection, public education projects, and other activities; 50 individuals received reasonable pay totaling 46,600 yuan for participating in academic activities and giving lectures; and 9 individuals participated in relevant activities without receiving any fees. 2. Disposal situation: The relevant behaviors of some medical personnel mentioned in the report violate the specific provisions of the Nine Principles for Clean and Honest Practices for Medical Institution Personnel in Sichuan Province. Our commission has instructed the local authorities to carry out thorough investigations, make determinations one by one, and handle the cases seriously in accordance with laws and regulations. The fees illegally received by the medical personnel involved have been fully repaid. Other issues related to the reported enterprise have been transferred to relevant departments for handling. Currently, targeted rectification measures have been implemented in the aforementioned medical institutions, and a comprehensive clean-up and rectification campaign focusing on medical institution integrity risks and strengthening ethical education has been deployed across the province's health system. Thorough investigations on the integrity of medical personnel at all levels of medical institutions in the province will be conducted, and any violations discovered will be strictly dealt with without tolerance to safeguard the health rights and interests of the people.
