According to the latest information from the Wisdom Finance APP, on May 30th, the Hong Kong SAR government published the "Tenth Technical Memorandum on Allocation of Emission Allowances" in the Government Gazette, further reducing the emission limits for air pollutants from power plants in 2030 and beyond. The "Tenth Technical Memorandum" is issued in accordance with the Air Pollution Control Ordinance, setting the annual emission limits for sulfur dioxide, nitrogen oxides, and respirable suspended particles in the electricity industry for 2030 and beyond to 2302 tons, 8350 tons, and 317 tons respectively, which is a further tightening of 19%, 25%, and 14% compared to the emission limits for the electricity industry in 2026 as stipulated in the existing Ninth Technical Memorandum.
