The Chinese Embassy in Pakistan responded to every journalist: An avalanche caused a team of international climbers to go missing collectively, including our citizens. We request the Pakistani side to make every effort for search and rescue and to provide timely updates on the situation.

"We have learned from the Pakistani side that on July 30, an international mountaineering team encountered an avalanche while climbing Broad Peak, and all team members are currently unaccounted for, including a Chinese citizen whose full name is WANG ZHONG." Around 12:00 PM on August 1, staff from the Chinese Embassy in Pakistan stated to reporters, "We activated the joint emergency response mechanism immediately and contacted relevant military and government departments in Pakistan to understand the progress of the situation. We requested that the Pakistani side make every effort to search for and rescue the Chinese citizen and provide timely updates. We have also been in contact with the family of the Chinese citizen and will provide necessary consular assistance."
