On April 17, the Hong Kong Airport Authority announced the aviation traffic volume at Hong Kong International Airport in March 2025. Overall, in the first quarter of 2025, passenger traffic increased by 15.0% year-on-year to 14.59 million, while aircraft movements rose by 11.3% to 95,975. In March, cargo volume increased by 4.8% year-on-year to 449,000 metric tons, mainly driven by a 5.8% increase in export cargo volume. Among the major trade regions, the largest increase in cargo volume was seen in flights to and from the Middle East and Europe. Cargo volume in the first quarter of 2025 reached approximately 1.17 million metric tons, an increase of 3.2% compared to the same period last year.
