Hong Kong Post has temporarily suspended postal services for goods bound for delivery within the United States.

According to the press release from the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government, Hongkong Post has suspended the acceptance of mail containing goods to the United States. Starting from today (April 16), the acceptance of regular mail containing goods will be suspended, and starting from April 27, the acceptance of airmail containing goods will be suspended. Regarding regular mail, as sea transport takes longer, Hongkong Post will suspend the acceptance of regular mail containing goods starting from today (April 16). For those who have previously sent regular mail containing goods but have not been shipped to the US, Hongkong Post will contact the senders and arrange for returns and refunds starting from April 22. The US government recently announced the cancellation of the small-item duty exemption arrangement for goods sent from Hong Kong to the US starting from May 2, and an increase in the customs duties for mail containing goods shipped to the US. Hong Kong residents sending goods to the US should be prepared for the unreasonable and high fees imposed by the US. Other mail containing only documents and no goods will not be affected.
