Apple concept stocks rose, with COWELL (01415) up 5.99% to HK$21.05, Shun Yu Optical (02382) up 4.02% to HK$64.7, Q TECH (01478) up 3.65% to HK$6.25, AAC TECH (02018) up 3.15% to HK$62, and BYD ELECTRONIC (00285) up 3.06% to HK$32.
On the news front, a research report released by Lyon stated that besides affecting the transportation of Apple products and causing retail price increases, the profit margins of Apple suppliers may also be under pressure due to a decrease in operating leverage. However, considering that the profit margins of Apple suppliers are already at a low level, it is believed that they do not need to directly bear the additional cost of tariffs. The report pointed out that current valuations of BYD ELECTRONIC, COWELL, LENOVO GROUP, and AAC TECH are undervalued by the market, while Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corporation and Shun Yu Optical are minimally affected by US tariffs but their stock prices are still being dragged down, providing a good entry opportunity for investors.
On the afternoon of April 9th local time, Trump announced that he had authorized a 90-day tariff suspension for countries that do not retaliate. Trump stated in his speech that he will consider exempting some US companies from tariffs, and Apple, as one of the "flagship companies" of the US, is considered a potential candidate for exemption. It is reported that in Trump's first term, Tim Cook successfully obtained tariff exemptions for Apple products by citing competition with Samsung as a reason.
