World Gold Council: First quarter gold ETF inflows achieve highest level in 3 years.

According to data from the World Gold Council (WGC), in the first quarter, physically backed gold exchange-traded funds (ETFs) saw inflows of 226 tons, valued at $21 billion, marking the largest quarterly inflow in 3 years. During the period, investors started turning to gold ETFs to avoid political and economic turbulence risks.
By the end of March, the total holdings of gold ETFs increased by 3% to reach 3,445 tons, the largest since May 2023. The highest record was 3,915 tons in October 2020. Data shows that the inflows of US gold ETFs were the highest at 133.8 tons, while European listed funds saw inflows of 54.8 tons.
