The spokesperson of the Ministry of Commerce answered questions from reporters on the launch of an industrial competitiveness investigation on imported medical CT tubes. The spokesperson stated that this investigation is the first industrial competitiveness investigation initiated by the Ministry of Commerce in response to domestic industry applications. According to Article 36 of the Foreign Trade Law of the People's Republic of China, the Ministry of Commerce can conduct investigations on the impact of imports on domestic industries and their competitiveness. The preliminary evidence submitted by the applicant shows that the Chinese medical CT tube industry started late and is still in the development stage. Due to the impact of imported products, the domestic industry is facing operational difficulties and its competitiveness is adversely affected. Based on this, the applicant requested the Ministry of Commerce to conduct an investigation on the impact of imports on domestic industries and their competitiveness.
It is important to emphasize that the industrial competitiveness investigation is a factual investigation, and this investigation is not targeted at any specific country or region and will not affect normal trade. The investigating authority will fully protect the rights of all parties concerned and conduct the investigation objectively and impartially in accordance with the law.
