The secretary-general of the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, Cui Dongshu, wrote that in August, the retail, export, wholesale, and production of passenger cars all reached record highs for the month, with new energy vehicle exports setting a new record for all months in history. From January to July 2025, passenger car domestic retail sales achieved a year-on-year cumulative growth of 10%, but the year-to-date growth rate fell to 9.5% from January to August. The monthly growth rate in July to August dragged down the year-to-date growth rate by 1 percentage point. The trend of the automobile market this year has shown signs of "low, medium, high, and then stabilization."
