An Arabic spokesperson for the Israeli Defense Forces stated, "The Israeli Defense Forces are determined to defeat Hamas and will deploy a large number of troops in Gaza City, just like in the rest of the Gaza Strip." Palestinian civilians have been instructed to evacuate to the designated "humanitarian zone" in the southern part of the Gaza Strip via the coastal road.
