Two departments plan to further strengthen the supervision of cross-border e-commerce retail imported food recalls.
The State Administration for Market Regulation, in conjunction with the Ministry of Commerce, is jointly drafting the "Notice on Further Strengthening the Supervision of Cross-Border E-commerce Retail Import Food Recalls" and has begun seeking public comments. According to the draft for soliciting opinions: Cross-border e-commerce enterprises are required to take on the main responsibility for the safety of cross-border e-commerce retail imported food and establish a recall system for cross-border e-commerce retail imported food; Cross-border e-commerce enterprises are required to entrust a domestic enterprise through signing a contract or other forms to assist in carrying out the recall of cross-border e-commerce retail imported food and solve the problem of the lack of oversight in recall supervision by market supervision departments; Cross-border e-commerce platforms are required to assist in carrying out recall work, urging cross-border e-commerce enterprises and the entrusted domestic enterprises to carry out recalls when quality and safety issues occur with cross-border e-commerce retail imported food. Cross-border e-commerce enterprises that do not take proactive recall measures will have their cross-border e-commerce business suspended.
