President Trump of the United States said that he considers White House National Economic Council Director Kevin Hassett, Federal Reserve Board Governor Christopher Waller, and former Fed governor Kevin Warsh as the top candidates to replace Powell as the head of the central bank. Trump told reporters in the Oval Office, "You could say their the top three." Earlier in the day, Trump had hinted that although he almost had his mind made up on who to choose, he would still go through the interview process.
