According to CNN on the 5th, multiple sources stated that US President Trump is considering launching a military strike against drug trafficking groups in Venezuela, including cross-border operations. In early August, the US offered a $50 million reward for the capture of Maduro on suspicion of smuggling drugs to the US through criminal organizations. At the end of the same month, the US deployed multiple warships near Venezuela in the Caribbean Sea under the pretext of "combating drug trafficking", exacerbating tensions between the US and Venezuela. On September 5th, the Venezuelan Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement condemning US Secretary of State Pompeo and anti-Venezuelan forces for inciting hatred and attempting to launch an arms race under the pretext of "fighting drugs". The statement emphasized that the deployment of warships by the US violates international law and human rights standards, and has been widely condemned globally. Latin America has built a united front, firmly opposing any actions that threaten regional peace, and refuting all allegations of Venezuela being involved in drug trafficking.
