On September 4th, Russian President Putin presided over a meeting in the Russian Far Eastern city of Vladivostok on the development of the fuel and energy complex in the Far East Federal District. At the meeting, Putin said, "The coal reserves in the Far East region are estimated to last for hundreds of years, even up to 900 years." He emphasized that such abundant reserves deserve consideration on how to utilize them. During the meeting, Putin also discussed with officials and experts the prospects for expanding coal-fired power generation in the Far East region.
