South Korea announces government reorganization plan, with the Prosecution Office being abolished.

On the 7th local time, South Korea's Minister of Public Administration and Security, Yoon Ho-jung, and the Chairperson of the Policy Committee of the ruling Democratic Party, Han Jeong-ae, announced the government organization restructuring plan for the Lee Jae-myung administration jointly determined by the government, the presidential office, and the Democratic Party. According to this plan, the Prosecution Office will be abolished, and new offices of Public Prosecution and Major Crime Investigation will be established, separating the prosecution and investigation functions of the prosecution agency. Under the restructuring plan, the Public Prosecution Office will be under the Ministry of Justice, and the Major Crime Investigation Office will be under the Ministry of Public Administration and Security. Additionally, according to the restructuring plan, the Ministry of Planning and Finance will be renamed the Ministry of Finance and Economy, responsible for tax, economic, financial policies, etc.; while the functions of budgeting and finance previously handled by the Ministry of Planning and Finance will be taken over by the Planning and Budget Office under the Prime Minister's Office. Furthermore, the Ministry of Environment will be expanded to become the Ministry of Climate, Environment, and Energy. In addition to the responsibilities of the original environment ministry, it will also be in charge of formulating energy policies previously managed by the Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Energy.
