The German automotive industry has seen consecutive improvement in business confidence, but exports to the United States continue to face pressure.
The latest data released by the Ifo Institute for Economic Research in Germany on September 2nd shows that the business climate index for the German automotive industry in August has shown a significant rebound for the second consecutive month, but overall still remains in negative territory. The data shows that the commercial climate index for the German automotive industry rose to -15.5 points in August, higher than the -23.0 points in July. Anita Wolf, an automotive industry expert at Ifo, said: "The positive development of the electric car market contrasts with the challenging situation regarding trade prospects with the United States."
