Tesla objected to the $1.7 billion compensation judgment for a fatal car accident.

The latest court documents show that Tesla has applied to the judge to set aside a $243 million judgment involving its autopilot system, or allow for a retrial of the case. Tesla's lawyers stated that the jury's decision earlier this month "violated basic tort law in Florida, due process provisions, and did not make sense." In the latest filing, Tesla once again placed the majority of the blame for the accident on driver George Mackie. The jury ultimately found that Mackie was responsible for two-thirds of the fault, with Tesla bearing one-third of the responsibility.
