In recent days, about 20 cases of E. coli infection have been reported in multiple nursing homes in Belgium, resulting in at least 4 deaths. Authorities have launched an investigation. The Federal Food Chain Safety Agency of Belgium said that patients are suspected to have been infected with Shiga toxin-producing E. coli through contaminated food. Raw meat, raw fish, or milk may be the source of contamination.
