Midday closing of Hong Kong stocks, Hang Seng Index rose 0.63% and Hang Seng Tech Index rose 0.56%. Hong Kong tech ETF (159751) rose 0.35% while Hang Seng Stock Connect ETF (159318) fell 0.07%. In terms of sectors, biotechnology and electrical equipment sectors led the gains, while aerospace and defense, and passenger airline sectors had the biggest losses. In terms of individual stocks, Nio Corp rose 7.12%, Innovent Biologics rose 6.89%, WuXi Biologics rose 6.64%, Haier Smart Home rose 6.62%, China Resources Pharmaceutical rose 6.24%, Trip.com Group rose 5.16%, Luoyang Molybdenum rose 4.66%, Zijin Mining rose 4.62%, Horizon Robotics rose 4.5%, NIO Inc. rose 4.42%, BeiGene rose 4.29%; while China Pacific Insurance fell 12.19%, AIA Group fell 13.47%; Guangshen Railway rose 18.56%, Guotai Junan International rose 15.29%.

According to the "August Electric Car Intelligence Report" released by the American political consulting firm Slingshot Strategies, only 14% of the 8,000 Americans surveyed said that full self-driving (FSD) technology would make them more likely to buy a Tesla, while 35% said that the technology would actually decrease their likelihood of purchasing a Tesla. The remaining 51% of respondents stated that whether or not Tesla supports FSD features does not impact their car buying decision. Slingshot's research director, Evan Roth Smith, suggested that Tesla's marketing lacking clarity and honesty may be a factor. Most consumers are hoping for clear and strong regulations on autonomous vehicles in the United States, whether they are fully automated or partially automated. The survey also found that in the past two months, the percentage of consumers who consider Tesla cars to be unsafe has increased from 34% to 36%, while the percentage of consumers who believe Tesla cars are very safe has decreased from 17% to 13%. Most respondents believe that Honda, Toyota, and Chevrolet are the safest brands.
