Wang Yi spoke on the phone with Brazilian Foreign Minister Vieira

On August 28, 2025, Wang Yi, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Minister of Foreign Affairs, had a phone conversation with the Brazilian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Vieira. Wang Yi stated that the China-Brazil relationship is entering its best historical period. President Xi Jinping has established solid mutual trust and friendship with President Lula, providing important strategic guidance for the construction of a China-Brazil community of shared future. China is willing to strengthen strategic mutual trust with Brazil, firmly support each other, accelerate the implementation of important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, and deepen practical cooperation in various fields between China and Brazil. Vieira stated that President Xi Jinping had a phone conversation with President Lula two weeks ago, for which Brazil sincerely thanked. Currently, international trade is facing great uncertainty, multilateralism is facing serious challenges, and close coordination among BRICS countries is of great significance. Brazil looks forward to strengthening communication and coordination with China and relevant parties, exploring support for the multilateral trading system, and promoting WTO reform. Wang Yi stated that Brazil, as the rotating chair of BRICS, has fulfilled its duties and successfully hosted the Rio Summit, promoting unity and cooperation among developing countries globally, which China highly appreciates. Given the complex and changing international situation, China is willing to strengthen coordination with Brazil and BRICS countries to jointly resist unilateralism and bullying, safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of developing countries, and promote the reform and improvement of the global governance system.
