Ministry of Ecology and Environment: Strengthening drinking water safety guarantee in three aspects of "laying a foundation", "filling short board" and "preventing risks".

On August 26, the Ministry of Ecology and Environment held its routine press conference for August. Jiang Huohua, the Director of the Water Ecological Environment Department, stated that the Ministry of Ecology and Environment attaches great importance to the issue of drinking water safety and has continuously strengthened the guarantee of drinking water safety in recent years. Firstly, they have worked on laying the foundation by continuously improving the water source management system to solidify the protection foundation. Policies such as the delineation of water source protection areas and setting of signs have been successively issued to construct a protection supervision system that covers the entire life cycle from delineation to assessment. Secondly, they have been addressing weaknesses by adhering to full coverage in urban and rural areas to solve prominent difficulties. In urban areas, they have actively promoted the standardized construction of centralized drinking water sources and have systematically coordinated the six major tasks of delineation, establishment, management, measurement, prevention, and control. Lastly, they have focused on risk prevention by closely monitoring special sensitive periods and implementing effective risk prevention measures. They have strengthened the investigation of risks and vulnerabilities in drinking water sources and have continuously promoted the implementation of tailored emergency response plans for sudden water pollution incidents in key rivers.
