Technology journalist Gulman disclosed that the iPhone 17 Pro model will still use Qualcomm baseband, but the "super thin model" will use a first-generation self-developed baseband similar to the iPhone 16e. The Apple iPhone 18 Pro will be equipped with Apple's second-generation self-developed baseband. This means that only the iPhone 17 Air in the Apple iPhone 17 family will use the C1 baseband which does not support mmWave networks and can only be compatible with sub-6GHz.
