Economic Daily: Give the refund right back to consumers.
The China Consumers Association recently released a report on the analysis of complaints handled by consumer associations nationwide in the first half of 2025. It pointed out that in the booming performance market in the first half of the year, the number of complaints related to concerts doubled compared to the same period last year, with over 90% of the complaints related to ticket refunds. Giving consumers the right to refunds, allowing them to no longer worry about ticket refunds, can stimulate consumer enthusiasm and is beneficial for the long-term development of the performance market. It is necessary to explore the establishment of a unified standard for "staggered ticket refunds" across the industry, taking into account ticket refund models in industries such as railways and aviation, and gradually increasing processing fees based on the proximity to the event date. The closer to the performance date, the higher the fee, rather than a blanket "no refunds 30 days before the event". It is also important to establish a multi-department joint supervision model, strengthen law enforcement coordination, focus on cracking down on scalping and create a orderly and friendly market environment.
