The U.S. government initiates an investigation into wind turbine imports, possibly paving the way for more tariffs.
The Trump administration has launched an investigation into the import of wind turbines and their components, which could pave the way for further tariffs on these clean energy components. According to an announcement released by the US Department of Commerce on Thursday, the agency initiated a national security investigation on August 13 to assess whether imported wind energy-related products harm national security and weaken domestic production capacity. Earlier this week, the US Department of Commerce announced that wind turbines and related components have been included in the list of products subject to a 50% tariff on steel and aluminum.
