On August 20, Minister of Commerce Wang Wentao held a working meeting with Minister of Trade and Integration of Kazakhstan Shakkaliyev in Beijing. Wang Wentao stated that since the beginning of this year, the heads of state of the two countries have maintained close exchanges and reached a series of important consensuses, which have pointed the direction for economic and trade cooperation between the two sides. China-Kazakhstan trade has continuously reached historical new highs, and the two sides have successfully signed a new investment agreement, actively promoted cooperation in green mining and other fields. China is willing to work together with Kazakhstan to promote the upgrade of bilateral trade, strengthen cooperation in emerging areas, accelerate the development of new trade formats, make good use of the China-Central Asia trade facilitation cooperation platform, continuously improve the level of cross-border trade facilitation, jointly maintain the multilateral trade system, and enhance the quality of the new "Golden Thirty Years" in China-Kazakhstan relations. Shakkaliyev expressed that Kazakhstan highly appreciates China's efforts in safeguarding free trade and WTO rules, and is willing to vigorously develop economic and trade cooperation with China, expand non-resource exports to China, strengthen cooperation in e-commerce and other areas, actively participate in important exhibitions held in China, expand economic and trade exchanges with Chinese regions, and promote the healthy development of bilateral economic and trade cooperation.
