Belgian telecommunications operator hit by cyber attack, 850,000 customer records accessed without authorization.
On August 20th local time, Belgian telecommunications operator Orange released a statement saying that the company had suffered a cyber attack at the end of July, with data from 850,000 customer accounts being accessed without authorization. The statement said that hackers had breached a system containing information such as names, phone numbers, SIM card information, PUK codes, and tariff packages. However, the company stated that key data such as customer passwords, email addresses, or financial information were not leaked. The telecom operator said it had reported the incident to the relevant authorities and had filed a formal complaint with the judiciary.
