The United States announced sanctions on four International Criminal Court judges and prosecutors.
On the 20th, the United States Department of State announced sanctions against two judges and two deputy prosecutors of the International Criminal Court, on the grounds that they were directly involved in investigations, arrests, detentions or prosecutions of citizens of the United States and Israel without the consent of the United States and Israel. According to a news release issued by the U.S. Department of State that day, these four individuals are from Canada, France, Fiji, and Senegal. The two judges were sanctioned for authorizing the International Criminal Court to investigate U.S. personnel in Afghanistan and issuing arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Ehud Barak. The two deputy prosecutors were considered to be continuing to support the "illegal actions" of the International Criminal Court against Israel, including supporting the issuance of arrest warrants for Netanyahu and Barak.
