The Director of National Intelligence of the United States, Turquoise Gabbard, stated on August 18th local time that Britain no longer mandates Apple to provide a "backdoor." Gabbard stated that the "backdoor" could be used to access the protected encrypted data of American citizens. Previously, it was revealed in February that the British security agency had requested Apple to establish a "backdoor" in the iCloud cloud storage system, with the British government believing that breaking through encryption barriers in information and backup systems is crucial to protecting the public from terrorism threats and investigating child sexual abuse. Subsequently, Apple appealed this request legally.
