United Nations report shows a significant increase in sexual violence incidents in conflict areas worldwide.
A report released by a United Nations agency on the 14th shows that incidents of sexual violence in conflict areas around the world will significantly increase by 2024, with over 4600 people falling victim to sexual violence, a 25% increase compared to the previous year. This annual report was released by the Office of the Special Representative of the Secretary-General on Sexual Violence in Conflict, covering 21 countries. The report shows that the issue of sexual violence is most prominent in the Central African Republic, the Congo, Haiti, Somalia, and South Sudan. Women make up 92% of the victims.
