Wang Yi meets with Thai Foreign Minister Mari.

On August 14, 2025, Wang Yi, member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and Minister of Foreign Affairs, met with Thai Foreign Minister Mari in Anning, Yunnan, who was in China to attend the 10th Foreign Ministers' Meeting of the Lancang-Mekong Cooperation. Wang Yi stated that this year marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Thailand and the "Golden 50 Years of Sino-Thai Friendship". Over the past half a century, regardless of the changes in the international situation, the two sides have always firmly supported each other and promoted pragmatic cooperation in various fields. The "Sino-Thai family" has become deeply rooted in people's hearts. At the new historical starting point, China is willing to work with Thailand to implement the important consensus of the leaders of the two countries, deepen bilateral and multilateral strategic cooperation, promote the construction of a community of common destiny between China and Thailand, lead the Lancang-Mekong Cooperation to a new level, and inject new impetus into regional peace and stability. Both sides should maintain high-level exchanges, strengthen mutually beneficial cooperation, organize the celebration of the second half of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations well, and consolidate the friendly public opinion foundation of the two countries. China is willing to work with Thailand to accelerate the construction of the China-Thailand railway, encourage more enterprises to invest and develop in Thailand, tap the potential for cooperation in green development, digital economy, artificial intelligence, and other fields, and ensure the stability and smooth operation of the regional production and supply chains. It is hoped that Thailand will provide more policy support and convenience for Chinese enterprises. Wang Yi pointed out that the Lancang-Mekong Cooperation is pragmatic, efficient, and mutually beneficial, and has become the most successful sub-regional cooperation mechanism. As the Lancang-Mekong Cooperation enters its tenth year, it is at a crucial stage of carrying forward past achievements and opening up new prospects. The Foreign Ministers' Meeting is being held in Anning, China, which symbolizes peace, harmony, and tranquility.
