US Treasury Secretary Yellen calls on Europe to cooperate with the United States on sanctions against Russia and urges Japan to control inflation.
US Treasury Secretary Scott Bennett said European leaders need to be willing to cooperate with the United States in sanctioning buyers of Russian oil. Bennett added that Europeans are calling on the United States to do so, but they need to join US actions in imposing sanctions. "This is a critical moment, either take action or keep quiet," Bennett said. "The president is building his bargaining chips. We need Europeans to help build even greater bargaining chips," he pointed out. In addition, Bennett also said that he has communicated with Bank of Japan Governor Masayoshi Amamiya, urging Japan to control inflation. Bennett said Japan has created "spillovers" that have affected yields in other regions.
