Sources say that senior White House officials informed a group of rare earth companies last week that the government is planning to use strategies from the pandemic period to promote the production of key minerals in the United States by providing them with the lowest price guarantee for their products. The previously unreported meeting took place on July 24th and was led by White House trade adviser Navarro and National Security Council official Copley, who is responsible for supply chain strategy. Attendees reportedly included 10 rare earth companies, as well as tech giants such as Apple, Microsoft, and Corning. Sources say that the officials at the meeting indicated that the lowest price guarantee provided to MP Materials earlier this month as part of a multi-billion dollar investment by the Pentagon is "not a one-time measure," and similar agreements are in progress. In addition to the lowest price guarantee, officials also suggested that participating companies take advantage of existing government financial support, including incentives worth billions of dollars in the Trump tax and spending bill passed on July 4th.
