Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Sun Weidong attended the 12th Senior Officials Meeting of the Lancang-Mekong Cooperation.

On July 31, 2025, the 12th Senior Official Meeting of the Lancang-Mekong Cooperation was held via video conference. The meeting was chaired by Chinese senior official and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Sun Weidong and Thai senior official Lu Jigong. Senior officials from Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, and Vietnam attended the meeting. The six parties reviewed and summarized the progress of the Lancang-Mekong Cooperation, focusing on the next stage of cooperation and the preparations for the 10th Foreign Ministers' Meeting of the Lancang-Mekong Cooperation, exchanging in-depth views. Sun Weidong elaborated on the spirit of the Central Peripheral Work Conference and stated that the Lancang-Mekong Cooperation mechanism is entering its 10th year. Facing the rapidly evolving world situation and complex international environment, countries now more than ever need to unite and cooperate. China will continue to practice the principles of amity, sincerity, mutual benefit, and inclusiveness in its peripheral diplomacy, strengthen strategic communication with Mekong River countries, deepen unity and cooperation, build a strong security barrier, enhance people-to-people exchanges, and inject strong momentum into the construction of a community of shared future for Lancang-Mekong countries, jointly ushering in a new golden decade of Lancang-Mekong Cooperation.
