Google will launch the "age verification" feature to some users in the United States.
Google announced on July 30 that in the coming weeks, it will start rolling out an "age verification" feature to a small group of users in the United States. They will closely monitor the situation before expanding it to a wider user base. Google stated that for users identified as under 18 years old, existing enhanced protection measures will be automatically provided to ensure age-appropriate experiences. These measures include enabling YouTube's digital wellbeing tools, such as reminders to take breaks and go to bed, adding protections in content recommendations by limiting repeated viewing of certain types of content, disabling the timeline in Maps, disabling personalized ads and restricting age-sensitive ad categories, and preventing users identified as minors from accessing adult-only apps on Google Play.
