National Immigration Administration: Issuance of Mainland Travel Permit for Hong Kong and Macao Permanent Residents who are not Chinese nationals, currently over 85,000 permits have been issued.
Xiong Shuren, Director of the Exit and Entry Administration Department of the National Immigration Administration, stated at a press conference that in terms of serving residents of Hong Kong and Macao traveling to and from the mainland, the focus is on meeting the needs and expectations of Hong Kong and Macao residents. The policy of issuing and reissuing mainland travel permits for residents of Hong Kong and Macao has been implemented. During the "14th Five-Year Plan" period, 394,000 people have already enjoyed the convenience of obtaining documents in the mainland. In response to the issue of a large number of residents of Hong Kong and Macao being unable to return home due to the epidemic and thus facing obstacles in traveling to and from the mainland, we have timely introduced policy measures to legally extend the validity period of travel permits for residents of Hong Kong and Macao traveling to and from the mainland, ensuring smooth passage for more than 4.4 million Hong Kong and Macao residents holding extended travel permits. In order to further facilitate the travel of individuals, in July 2024, we innovatively introduced a policy to issue travel permits for non-Chinese permanent residents of Hong Kong and Macao, achieving a major breakthrough in the field of entry and exit management under the new era of "one country, two systems". Currently, more than 85,000 travel permits have been issued.
