The EU plans to temporarily suspend Israel's participation in the "Horizon Europe" program.
The European Commission issued a statement on the 28th, proposing to suspend Israel's participation in some aspects of the European flagship scientific project "Horizon Europe" due to the "serious situation" in the Palestinian Gaza Strip. The statement said that if the proposal is passed, Israeli start-ups and small companies in the fields of cybersecurity, drones, artificial intelligence, etc. will be prohibited from participating in certain projects. The approval of this proposal requires at least 15 out of the 27 member states of the European Union to agree. Reuters reported that several EU member states criticized Israel last week for not increasing aid to Gaza in violation of the agreement with the EU. Several countries have requested the European Commission to come up with specific response plans.
