"Allianz Life North America discloses data breach incident, affecting majority of 1.4 million customers."
Allianz Life Insurance Company of North America stated that it experienced a cyberattack on July 16, affecting most of its 1.4 million customers. The insurance company said in an email statement that a "malicious actor" breached a third-party cloud system used by Allianz, gaining access to personal information of most customers, financial professionals, and some employees. "We took immediate action to control and mitigate this issue and have notified the Federal Bureau of Investigation," Allianz Life said, adding that currently there is no evidence that hackers breached the company's network or any other systems. Allianz has started contacting individuals affected by this data breach and has disclosed the incident to the Office of the Attorney General of Maine in the United States.
