The torch relay of the Chengdu World Games ended successfully.
On July 26th at 17:23, the 12th World Games torch "Bamboo Dream" arrived at the Xinglong Lake Wetland Park in the Tianfu New Area of Chengdu. This is where the concept of a "park city" was first proposed, and this site conveys the magnificent scenery of "interwoven lake water and firelight, ecological harmony with technology", showcasing the innovative vitality and future vision of Chengdu as a "park city under the snow mountains", interpreting the spirit of hosting events in a green and low-carbon way. The 38 torchbearers at this site come from various fields such as sports, technology, and culture, including weightlifting Olympic champion Li Wenwen and Macau University President Song Yonghua. Among them, the first torchbearer Zhang Yawen, as the first badminton world champion from Chongqing, serves as a link for the "Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle", kicking off this relay across mountains and rivers. The final torchbearer is water rescue champion Marcel Hassmeier, who was ranked fourth in the selection of the greatest athletes in the history of the World Games. This German athlete conveys the spirit of the World Games with a global perspective, symbolizing the inclusive heart of Chengdu's World Games, rooted in its local culture and connecting the world. With this, the torch relay event for the World Games, spanning multiple cities including Deyang, Chengdu, and Meishan, has come to a successful conclusion.
