Chinese Academy of Sciences academician Yao Qizhi: AI technology monopoly may worsen global digital divide
The 2025 World Artificial Intelligence Conference will be held in Shanghai from July 26 to 28, with the theme "Intelligent Age, Shared Prosperity". The conference will gather global experts, government and business representatives to discuss new opportunities for AI development. During the opening ceremony, Turing Award winner, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and president of the Shanghai Qi Zhi Research Institute, Yao Qizhi, stated, "How the AI technology revolution can benefit the world is a very interesting topic." Yao Qizhi also said, "AI is developing rapidly, but it is only in the hands of a few countries and companies. How can we ensure that the digital divide issue, which we are concerned about, does not arise in AI development? This is a very worthwhile issue to discuss."
