Anthropic seeks to increase its valuation to over $150 billion.
Artificial intelligence startup Anthropic is in preliminary negotiations, planning to increase its valuation by more than double in the new round of financing, to over $150 billion, in order to have more firepower to stay on par with competitors in building advanced artificial intelligence models. According to four sources familiar with the matter, as a competitor to OpenAI, owned by Sam Altman, Anthropic is in the initial stage of fundraising negotiations with investors, some of whom have expressed interest in valuing the company at over $150 billion, a significant increase from Anthropic's current valuation of $61.5 billion. Two sources said that final terms have not been determined yet, but the 4-year-old company is expected to raise at least $3 billion, with one adding that this round of financing could reach as high as $5 billion.
