The water supply station in Ulat Houqi, Inner Mongolia, issued a statement regarding the situation of turbid water quality in the county. The reason for the turbidity: the turbid water quality after the water supply was stopped is because many of the water supply pipelines in our county are made of steel pipes or cast iron pipes and fittings to transport tap water. After a long period of use, the inner walls of the iron pipes will rust and form scale. When tap water flows steadily at normal flow pressure, the water rust and scale will not fall off. However, when the water is stopped, the flow speed pressure inside the pipeline decreases or stops, and when the water supply is restored, the pressure and flow speed will suddenly increase. This will create water flow disturbances inside the pipeline, causing the water rust and scale on the pipe walls to be flushed off, leading to turbidity in the water quality when water is released.
