NHK reports that Japan's Chief Trade Negotiator entered the White House to meet with Trump to discuss tariffs.

NHK quoted government sources as reporting that Japan's chief trade negotiator, Ryosuke Akase, has entered the White House to discuss tariff issues with US President Donald Trump. US Treasury Secretary Scott Bensent had earlier hinted that they were getting closer to reaching an agreement with Japan. NHK reports that Akase and Bensent later talked for about 30 minutes.
